Destined to be the greatest witch in Camelot, Merlynne is…a failure. After a demonstration for King Uther goes disastrously wrong, she concludes the source of her uncooperative magic is Princess Callisa Pendragon, whom she fell head over heels for at first sight. To test her theory, Merlynne sneaks into the king's birthday ball to dance with Callisa. Instead of a mess of magic, Merlynne saves Callisa from an assassin attempt, impressing King Uther in the process. The king appoints her as Callisa's bodyguard to protect against future threats.

Determined to keep Callisa safe and master her magic, Merlynne reaches into a magical mirror, comes face to face with her future self, and is granted unimaginable, but borrowed power. She fights through an endless slew of attacks from outside Camelot to keep Callisa safe, including a creepy undead skeleton with a vendetta against all Pendragons. As Merlynne and Callisa grow closer, Merlynne entwines her feelings for the princess with her magic. Then, in one terrifying moment, her connection to the mirror is broken and her magic disappears. If Merlynne fails to regain her powers and protect Camelot, not only will the kingdom fall, but she'll lose Callisa and be unable to fulfill her destiny.
